Actress
Outside the dance stage, Helena expresses herself as an actor. She is a founding member and creative director of Apollo Theater, a Copenhagen based theater group focusing on performances for children and youth, mixing dance and theater in a unique format. Helena has also appeared on screen in numerous commercials, films and music videos.
”Acting for me is a natural extension of dancing. On a professional level it gives a different set of tools, allowing me to dive into the psychological world of the characters. Personally acting has taught me a lot about letting go of unnecessary emotional filters. Acting on stage is for me a powerful experience and a practice of living in an endless chain of present moments.”
Helena’s main studies as an actor have taken place with William Espers at his studio in New York. Helena has also studied under the personal tuition of several Danish actors, as well as participated in professional courses run by the Danish Actors Union.
Meisner technique, developed by William Esper, has helped Helena to develop an ability to improvise and access deeper emotional layers. As a result Helena’s acting is characterized by her ability to bring spontaneity and natural richness into the text. She is also renowned for her natural shine and completely present stage appearance.
