Ashtanga yoga teacher
Helena began dancing as a child, studying body and movement. In 2000 her Ashtanga yoga journey started in Copenhagen, Helsinki and New York City.
Since her full on introduction in three countries and two continents yoga has become a major part of her life. Coming from a background of physical self expression and body awareness Helena is passionate in her teaching, highlighting healthy alignment with intuitive understanding of movement. Her natural curiosity and deep interest in the human body give an exact and therapeutical teaching style.
”Practicing and teaching yoga is an important part of my self-exploration. Like dancing, it goes way beyond the physical and brings me closer to the natural state of being. The beautiful quality in yoga is that it is a personal journey, with no essence of competition. The physical and mental benefits are accessible to all, both experienced and inexperienced.”
Ashtanga yoga is a classical system of yoga transmitted by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. It is a tool to align our bodies, calm our minds and achieve our highest potential. Practiced with awareness Ashtanga yoga is a moving meditation where body and mind learn to dance as one. In addition to Ashtanga yoga Helena is inspired by the alignment focused approaches of Iyenger yoga and Pilates technique.
Helena continues to charm audiences as a professional dancer and actress, but the call of yoga keeps her close to her mat, continuing explorations on physical and emotional levels. Helena has studied with many senior teachers, also spending periods in the heart of Ashtanga yoga, Mysore, India.
